I have been in the counseling field for about 20 years and have worked with adolescents, adults, groups, couples and families. I'm happy to be part-owner of Prairie Wellness in the Fox Valley area, located in Batavia, IL. I have worked with many different populations: children, adolescents, adults, veterans, individuals with substance abuse, individuals with special needs, and the dual-diagnosed. I have worked in community mental health, high school, crisis line operator and private practices. I focus on understanding your perspective, whether its an angry teen or individual with anxiety, I aim to provide you with the best support in your current situation.
I believe that the most important element in therapy is trust. The alliance between the client and clinician is paramount to a successful relationship. Each party in the therapeutic alliance has an important role. I need to be trustworthy, honest, supportive, caring, experienced, and at times challenging. The client needs to be honest with me (and themselves) about how they feel. I believe that with my experience, I can provide a space that allows for this healthy therapeutic alliance to grow. In addition, with a personal training background, I am able to draw connections between emotional health and physical health. When not at work or spending time with my family, I enjoy running and reading.
